PAYNE
Andrew Mendez, born on April 07 1990, best known by his stage name PAYNE is a Jamaican reggae dancehall artist. Growing up he was raised in Spanish Town Jamaica and now hails from Sandy Bay Clarendon Jamaica.
This gifted and extremely talented artist has developed his craft in many other areas of the music industry, not only is he an outstanding Sing-J, and promoter, he is also a musician, a music producer, writer, and music engineer. In 2010 at the age of 20 Payne launched his own Company and Record Label, “Howsa Payne Production”. This company has maintained success and is rapidly expanding.
While attending fourth grade primary school, his teacher requested that he write a song for peace day. After his presentation during the school assembly the audience started cheering and shouting. He was inspired by the vibe he felt from the reaction of his school mates. It was at this moment he decided to eventually pursue a career in music. Payne didn’t get serious until he was in Grade 10. After spending much time in the music studio he recorded his first song in 2004 and began to build and pursue a music career.
Payne’s family, an Uncle who played the guitar and was a country music singer, and Father, who played the drums was his biggest influence for music growing up. Some artists who have inspired Payne, were “I Wayne”, “Capleton”, “Sizzla”, the late great “Bob Marley”, and popular Jamaican dancehall artist “Vybz Kartel”.
In 2013 Payne was a competitor in the Jamaican dancehall competition “Magnum Kings and Queens” and performed extremely well placing second. In the same year, guided by his own experience, he has created and produced his own community annual talent show, “Howsa Starz” to influence and encourage new uprising artists from his community. The following year he performed on “Sumfest” one of the biggest reggae shows in Jamaica. Payne writes music for various artists in Europe and USA and has had the privilege of numerous television and radio interviews. Payne has released eight tracks, of which four are getting substantial airplay. Recently, Payne has recorded a collaboration with Artist “Merciless”. “Next Generation Ep” has just been released which contains five of his top tracks.
Payne is a fun and family orientated man, and would like his fans, listeners and colleagues to see him as a person they can approach easily. He is a calm and kind person by nature, and is open to anyone coming to him for a chat and a laugh anytime. This talented young man is aiming for the top. He would like to see his name amongst the other big names in the industry. With his continued hard work, focus and dedication to his craft, his objective is to have at least three number one hits within the next five years.
